How I Met Your Father
Dear Amelia, my future daughter,
Do you know why we named you that? Haha it's because your parents are big fans of Dr Who, especially the 11th Doctor. Amelia was Matt Smith's companion, and your name has such a special meaning to it; a feminine talent.
I am writing this post for just in case, I forgot. Forgot how I met your father, my now-husband.
Forgot how much I love him and how much I mean the world to him.
Dear Amelia,
Guess who made the first move?
Your mom did! I fell for him, not at first sight, unfortunately, but gradually over time, his charm shown through and his constant texts grew on me, but he rejected me at first when I asked him out haha. I cried and he cried lol and... on the 25th of January 2020, we officially started dating.
He told me he loves me first. He's been telling me that everyday ever since.
He likes to spoil me with gifts, your father. Like a genie, he grants my every wish.
He watches what I like to watch.
He goes to restaurants I like to go.
Like a clingy baby, he can't bare being away from me long.
He calls me everyday to make sure I'm okay.
Above all, he doesn't like to see me cry, although he unintentionally does so without realising.
He says the sweetest things, it makes me tear up.
However, we are different, Amelia. But, that's okay. You learn more when you are.
I was Asian and he was English. He doesn't do LDR & I can't be in the UK for long.
My love language are words of affirmation, acts of service & gifts whilst his was physical and gifts.
So, he can't bear with physical distance, so if I'm not there by his side anymore, please visit him often, love.
He thinks my gifts were bribes haha. He never asked for my money or assets, just my love.
He's not a fan of Asian food, but I was. He can't eat spicy, so I don't know what to cook for him if we ever got married.
At times, I no longer saw a future with him.
He didn't view marriage as important as I do. He just thinks it's just a piece of paper.
He doesn't believe in God like I do. Muslims can't get married to non-Muslims, dear, so I tried to let him go, but every time, I do... he cries.
Guys don't normally cry, but your dad did whenever I mentioned the word, 'breakup'.
Seeing him sad makes me sad too, so I took back my word & tried to believe...
Believe that your dad's love for me was so strong, he'd convert for me, that he was true to his word about putting up with my spicy cooking, with LDR, with me.
Dear Amelia,
This is my love story. If you ever wanna look for the One too, please🙏🏻 look for someone like your Dad. Someone who will take care of you, someone who loves you wholeheartedly regardless of what you look like or what you wear, someone who stood by you through tough times, someone who would go miles just to keep you by his side just like your daddy.
By the time I write this blog, your dad and I are just into our 4th month of dating. We are not married yet, but I'm pretty sure he's gonna pop the question soon. I can't wait to meet you when he does.
Yours sincerely,
Alya
